Albania Culture Sites Tour


This tour is for people who like to see relics of early civilization, the types of buildings of great interest from an architectural view point, national costumes and also the beautiful nature. During our journey we will visit the most attractive and historical cities of Albania. First will be Tirana, which is the largest city and the capital of Albania. Then, Kruja is the “city of history” and the best known as hometown of Albanian National Hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg. The journey will continue further to Berat known as “the city of a thousand windows”, and in Gjirokaster the “Museum City”. Further on, will be a visit to the ancient town of Butrint, the most important archaeological site in Albania and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Also, you will have the opportunity to try different kinds of Albanian dishes.


Day 1

Arrival in Tirana. At 18:00, meeting the tour guide at the hotel lobby. Then start by a quick sightseeing tour of the city starting from Scanderberg Square, Mosque of Et’hem Bey, the Watch Tower, “Deshmoret e Kombit” street and Bllok neighborhood. Dinner. Overnight in Tirana

Day 2

After the breakfast travelling to Kruja, nested on a steep mountain side, stands high a balcony over the Adriatic shores. The history of the city is closely linked with the Albanian national Hero Gjergj Kastriot Skanderbeg. A narrow path, leads you to the old bazaar and the Scanderbeg castle. Visit the national & ethnographic museums. Dinner and overnight in Kruja.

Day 3

Travelling towards Shkodra one of the biggest and oldest cities of Albania. During the travelling the first stop will be in Lezha to visit the mausoleum of Skanderbeg at ex-Cathedral of Shen Kolli where he was buried in 1468. The lunch break will take place at the most known restaurants in Shiroka area in front of the Shkoder’s lake, serving the most popular local dishes, especially the crap fish which is the one raised in Shkoder’s lake. In the afternoon visit the Rozafa Castle and exploring the city. Overnight in Shkodra.

Day 4

After breakfast, the tour continues to Berat. A stop will be in Durresi, visit the archeological museum and the amphitheater. Lunch will be in a restaurant at the seaside. Our travelling continues toward Berat the most ancient cities of Albania with a history over 2,400 years and a UNESCO heritage site. Visit the castle, the ethnographic & iconographic museums. Dinner and overnight in Berat.

Day 5

Travel to Vlora, a coastal city which lies in the southwester part of the country. Before arriving to Vlora a visit will be at monastery of Ardenica and at archaeological site of Apollonia. The lunch will be enjoyed under the shade of the trees in Apollonia. Driving from Fieri to Vlora lasts not more than 30 minutes. Vlora is blessed with numerous beaches. During the summer time it is a good chance to enjoy the sandy & cocky beach of Vlora. Overnight in Vlora.

Day 6

After the breakfast travel to Saranda. Along to the seashore visit the castle of Porto-Palermo. It is also known as the castle of Ali Pashe Tepelena. Travelling to the south of Albania, passes many beautiful places and villages of the Albanian Riviera such as, Llogara, Dhermi, Palas, Qeparo etc. After arriving to Saranda, a scenic narrow overlooking the sea leads to the ancient city of Butrint, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Dinner at Lekursi castle. Overnight in Saranda.

Day 7

Departure from Saranda, the national highway leads to the unique city of Gjirokastra, only 56 km away. One of the most pleasant surprises along this journey is the “Blue eye”, a powerful natural spring that has created a small lake of crystal clear water with an illusion of a giant human eye. Due to its architecture, Gjirokastra is also known as the “City of Stone” or “City of a thousand Stairs” and for its value Gjirokastra is a UNESCO World heritage site. The main objects to be visited are: “Fortress of Argjiro”, the Weapons museum, Ethnographic museum etc. Leisure time. Dinner in a traditional restaurant. Overnight in Gjirokastra.

Day 8

After the breakfast the tour continues toward Permet. A spectacular nature view will appear in front of travellers with the high colourful mountains and a magnificent Vjosa River, a rapid and blue river full of tasty fish and amazing cataracts. As the travelling continues through the Valley of Vjosa, the beauty of mountains Dhembel, Trebeshine and Nemercka will be admired  by everyone. Lunch in a restaurant with a picturesque nature view. After an amazing nature trip, a nice relax will wait the travellers at Permeti town known for its famous roses, greenery  area with out end, hospitality, tranquillity, wine, raki and its unforgettable culinary. Overnight in Permet.

Day 9

The next surprise of the tour is the city of Korca, one of the biggest urban centres in Albania, otherwise known in Albania as “the small Paris” and “the city of Serenades’”. Korca is the main city of South East Albania, which lies at the foot of Morava Mountain in 800 m above sea level. Comparing with other cities Korca is a new one. In 17th and 18th centuries, it became an important merchant and handicraft centre due to the existence of the surrounding fertile land and the development of trade with the neighbouring regions. The remarkable culture visits will be in: the Mediavel Museum, the Orthodox Cathedral, the Museum of the first Albanian school & Bratko collection, bazaar. Dinner in a traditional restaurant with live music (serenades). Overnight in Korca.

Day 10

After breakfast, the group will be transfer to Tirana Airport.
